UP govt gives nod to prosecute retired IAS officer Tulsi Gaur

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government gave a nod for prosecution of retired IAS officer Tulsi Gaur, who was accused of corruption during his posting in the Export Corporation in 2001, after which the Lokayukta investigated against him.

The Lokayukta had found Tulsi guilty in his investigation and recommended that the government conduct an investigation by an independent agency.

The then Chief Minister Mayawati handed over the case to Vigilance Department for investigation on the recommendation of the Lokayukta.

The Vigilance Department completed the investigation and sought permission to prosecute Tulsi Gaur in 2014.

Gaur faced several serious allegations of corruption during his posting in the Export Corporation. One of the cases was to make a firm in his wife’s name and getting government contract in its name.

He was also a accused of exaggerating the expenses of official foreign travel and getting payment from government exchequer. Not only this, when the government asked him for the details of foreign expenditure, he created a fabricated story of theft of foreign currency and air tickets.

Gaur, a 1980-batch IAS officer, he retired from the service in December’2011.
