Mohan Chauhan takes oath as HPPSC member

Shimla: A day after IAS officer Mohan Chauhan took voluntary retirement, he was administered oath as a member of Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) here today.

HPPSC chairman K S Tomar administered the oath. Chief Secretary V C Pharka, Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission chairperson Mohan Jharta were among those present on the occasion.

Born in Kotkhai area of Shimla district, Chauhan did his BA (Hons)from DAV Chandigarh and also obtained LLB (Hons). He obtained MBA degree from the UK.

Prior to coming to State Administrative Services, Chauhan had served as a Captain in the Indian Army for six years. He secured first position in the HPAS exams in 1986 and was inducted into the IAS in 2000.

He has served in various important positions in the state, including as Deputy Commissioner of Solan, Commissioner of Shimla Municipal Corporation Municipal, Managing Director of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) among others.
