New Delhi: The Supreme Court appointed former CAG Vinod Rai as the Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) chief along with Ramachandra Guha and Vikram Limaye as administrators.
Declining Centre’s request to appoint sports ministry’s secretary as member of the committee, the Supreme Court appointed Diana Edulji also as a member of the cricket administrative board.
Earlier, the the Supreme Court had removed Anurag Thakur as the BCCI president after the Apex took strong objection of Anurag Thakur’s inability to implement Lodha Committee recommendation. Putting his foot down, SC had also sacked BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke.
While sacking Thakur and Shirke, the court had indicated that it would soon appoint a panel of administrators to carry out the reforms it had ordered in the sports body to make its affairs transparent.
Thakur and Shirke, who’ve been under court scanner for allegedly trying to solicit the International Cricket Council’s help to stall the court directed reforms, were also asked by SC to explain why they shouldn’t be prosecuted for perjury and contempt of court on this score.
The Supreme Court had appointed Lodha Committee to revamp the sports body.
