New Delhi: Nudging ministries and departments to go green, the finance ministry has asked them to opt for electronic publication for creation of a digital repository.
The Expenditure Management Commission had recommended that government publications should be digitised wherever possible to save stationery and expenditure.
“Considering that electronic publications are environment friendly, all ministries/departments may review utilisation of their different publications and to start with, e-publish some of their non-statutory publications while considerably reducing use of paper…,” the ministry said in an office memorandum.
The ministry said e-publications will also serve as a good digital repository for the posterity that can be accessed anywhere unlike manual publications.
The Department of Expenditure under the finance ministry issues instructions on expenditure management, fiscal discipline and the need for economy and rationalisation of government expenditure.
