Chief Commissioner of Central Excise and Service Tax Janaki Arunkumar was today booked by CBI in bribery in the transfers and postings of junior officials.

CBI sources said the case was registered after it received complaints of bribery in postings.

It is alleged that the officials entered in a criminal conspiracy in November 2016 and demanded bribe for favourable transfer-posting in Central Excise Department, they said.

They said it is alleged that one of the officials allegedly got appointment today from her at Palavakkam residence to deliver Rs 2 lakh of the purported bribe money.

They said searches are going on at seven locations including at the official and residential premises of Janaki Arunkumar, a 1979-batch IRS officer, and four Superintendents, who have also been named in the FIR.
