Indore: CBI today conducted searches at the premises of two Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) officials and seized incriminating documents and other things in connection with an alleged demand of bribe of Rs 25 lakh.
Searches were conducted at the Indore residence of CBN Superintendent Mukesh Khatri, who is posted in Ujjain, and Kota office of another CBN Superintendent, Dharam Singh Meena, a CBI release said.
The searches were carried out after obtaining necessary warrant from the special CBI judge’s court in Indore.
On a complaint from a person, a case was registered against Khatri, Meena and other unidentified persons under sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC and under the Prevention of Corruption Act on October 24.
Meena had allegedly threatened the complainant, through Khatri, that if he did not pay Rs 25 lakh he would be implicated in an already registered case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Later, after negotiations, the amount was reduced to Rs 16 lakh.
However, after finalising the deal, Khatri got suspicious and did not accept money but snatched away two mobiles from the complainant, CBI release said.
Further investigations are on.PTI
