“AAP demands that the Chief Secretary be relieved immediately after the BRICS Summit and the Ministry of Home Affairs be requisitioned by the state government for posting a new Chief Secretary for the state of Goa,” AAP said in a statement released here.

Goa government has granted a three-month extension to Srivastava, whose retirement was due on September 30.

“The Aam Aadmi Party views this with deep suspicion and denounces the government’s decision to grant Chief Secretary R K Srivastav another three-month extension,” the party said.

“The move is clearly a conspiracy by Goa’s ‘de facto weekend CM’ Manohar Parrikar and ‘de jure’ Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, to ensure a pliable Chief Secretary and misuse the official machinery in this crucial run-up to the Goa assembly elections in early 2017,” the AAP alleged.

“Why Parrikar and Parsekar are going out of the way to grant extensions and retain him as the head of the state administration? Srivastava has a shady past and dozens of cases pending against him,” it said.

“The BRICS summit slated to be held in Goa on October 16-17 is only an excuse and granting him extension till December 31, 2016 defeats any logic,” the statement read.

When asked to react on the AAP’s allegations, Parsekar only said that the extension has been given considering the BRICS event which Goa would be hosting successfully.
