Rajasthan Chief Secy’s daughter accuses him of sexually abusing her
Jaipur: Rajasthan chief secretary’s daughter accused him of sexually harassing her when she was a child, her mother told journalists on Saturday while revealing the contents of an email that detailed the allegation.
Rajasthan chief secretary’s wife Geeta Singhdeo, who is a Rajasthan Administrative Services officer and posted as Additional Director, Public Services, and chief secretary Om Prakash Meena have been living apart for more than seven years now, and she has filed cases of “violence and cruelty” against him. Their daughter Geetanjali Singh has filed a separate case seeking maintenance from Meena.
Meena’s wife shared mediapersons an email from her daughter, now living in Cardiff, United Kingdom. In the email, the 31-year-old woman has accused her father of “two years of molestation”.
“My father always treated me as a burden and for every single rupee he spent on me, he has abused me and mistreated me physically. My father molested me when I was 13 years old. I am so ashamed to say that he used to come in to my room and touch me at wrong places. He used to put his hand under my skirt and inside my shirt. My father used to kiss me lips and press my chest against his own many times. I had gone through this obscene treatment for almost two years not knowing what to do and who to tell; I used to cry all night,” says the email that requests the high court to consider it as the ““official statement in relation to the case of violence and cruelty as appealed by my mother”
Geetanjali also alleges that Meena and his family members abused her mother for not giving birth to a son and not giving divorce to him for a second marriage.
While the email is dated April, Singhdeo said she had been “forced to make it public now” as the probe against her husband was not progressing, and because things had become worse since Meena became Chief Secretary in July. Meena’s brother Harish Meena is a former DGP of the state and currently he is BJP’s Lok Sabha member from Dausa and his another brother Namo Narain Meena ia a former Union minister and Congress leader.
The chief secretary had told the media, “I don’t want to comment. They have been levelling allegations for quite sometime now. But I have done my father’s duty. My daughter had last spoken to me when I became Chief Secretary. For the past couple of years she has been seeking maintenance since she is in England. She lost in the trial court, lost in the district court, and has now approached the high court. Nowhere did she level these allegations. I, on my part, have given her the best possible education.”
The chief secretary’s wife had earlier complained to the Prime Minister’s Office in December 2014. The PMO had written back in January 2015, asking state government for an investigation.
Geeta said officials were too scared to take action against Meena. “I am alone in the state. Entire state and the machinery is with him.”
She said she had written letters to the Prime Minister and National Commission of Women, and wanted a CBI probe.
