A division bench of Justice Amreshwar Pratap Sahi and Justice Attau Rahman Masoodi passed the order on a writ petition filed by a social activist Nutan Thakur challenging the three-month service extension of Ranjan.

The petitioner claimed that his service extension was improper and filed a supplimentary affidavit which was taken on record by the court.

The petition was opposed on behalf of the respondents – the central and the state governments.

Counsel for respondents contended that the processing of extension of the services of Ranjan had been carried out in terms of Rule 16(1) of All India Service (Death-Cum-Retirement Benifits )Rules, 1958. The recommendation, the approval and consequential order were also placed before the court.

” Let the same be filed by the state counsel by tomorrow through an affidavit. List tomorrow that is 13.04.2016″, the court ordered.
