Doordarshan’s interim DG Lalrosanga takes VRS

New Delhi: C Lalrosanga, the interim Director General of Doordarshan has opted for voluntary retirement (VRS).

Sources told PTI that Lalrosanga, who was appointed last year to head Doordarshan till a regular DG is chosen has sent his papers to the Information and Broadcasting ministry citing “personal reasons”.

He had nearly an year of service left. When contacted a senior I&B ministry official confirmed that Lalrosanga had resigned adding that orders to this effect may follow.

When asked about who will head Doordarshan, the senior officials said that it is expected that a regular DG will be chosen by the end of this month.

Public broadcasters Doordarshan and the All India Radio, have been functioning without regular DGs for over an year now.

Lalrosanga had a diverse experience in broadcasting, and joined northeastern service of All India Radio Shillong, as director after getting selected by UPSC in 1991. Before that he was as Assistant News Editor at AIR, Aizawl.
