UP govt to give Rs 50,000 in pension to Yash Bharti awardees

Lucknow: Amid spate of litterateurs across the country returning state and central honours, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today announced Rs 50 thousand monthly pension to Yash Bharti awardees of the state.

“Our government has decided to provide Rs 50 thousand pension to Yash Bharti awardees of the state,” Yadav told reporters after a state cabinet meeting.

The award is given to eminent persons belonging to the state in the fields of art, culture, sports, literature, medicine, journalism and social service.

When asked whether the pension would be given even if they award was returned, Yadav said, “Pension will be given to the recipients. The situation of returning of award will not come in Samajwadi regime.”

Further, speaking about infrastructure projects, Akhilesh said that the Cabinet has given approvals for land for metro project, hospital and developments so that these projects were not affected.

“In Chak Gazaira, where IT city and Cancer institute is coming up, one more hospital will be made under PPP model. For this hospital, there is a pre-condition that they should reserve beds for poor,” he said.

The CM also said that the Cabinet has decided to formulate a policy for direct recruitment of those winning medals in Commonwealth and Asian Games.
