IAS officer who sought VRS shunted out, to face action for misconduct

Lucknow: Senior IAS officer Surya Pratap Singh, sought voluntary retirement (VRS) from the Akhilesh Yadav government was shunted out of his post and the Akhilesh-led Uttar Pradesh government also to ask him why departmental action cannot be initiated against him for his “misconduct”.

The Uttar Prades government on Friday removed Principal Secretary Public Enterprises 1982 batch officer Singh from his post and has been put on waiting for the pasting of his VRS letter in his Facebook post, the letter has gone viral on the internet.

Singh said in the VRS letter, “It is not possible for everybody to work with loyality in Uttar Pradesh.”

Sources in the Uttar Pradesh government have told The Sen Times that the government plans to initiate departmental proceedings against Singh for his misconduct.

“The government has initiated departmental proceedings and the chairman board of revenue will probe charges against Singh,” an official said adding that the inquiry would look into the issue and may even serve a charge sheet after seeking approval from the state government.

Sources said that the decision to probe charges against Singh would mean that his request for voluntary retirement may not be accepted till the completion of the inquiry.

Singh, who is 59 and due to retire this December, has since long been sharing ‘anti-government’ posts on social networking site Facebook had sent his voluntary retirement request to the state’s chief secretary Alok Ranjan on July 23.

Singh has been vocal about several issues through social media. He has been faced eight times transfers in past one-and-a-half years, Singh is a popular face during debates on regional and national news-channels.
