“Devyani hid from MEA that her daughters had US passports,” the ministry told high court.

“Devyani willfully violated government rules and provisions of various acts that bar holding of US passport and Indian diplomatic passport for her daughters,” the ministry also said.

The ministry also reportedly questioned Khobragade’s intergrity and trust-worthiness.

Khobragade, 39, who was India’s Deputy Consul-General in New York, was arrested outside her children’s school on December 12, 2014 on charges of visa fraud and lying to US authorities about what she paid her housekeeper.

Her arrest and strip-search had triggered a row between India and US.
