New Delhi: Senior IAS officer Naresh Kumar today assumed charge as chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).Kumar, a 1987 batch officer, was appointed to the top post last week.
In a gazette notification, the Union Home Ministry had said that the appointment was made in consultation with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

“Kumar has replaced Dharm Pal, Principal Secretary (Social Welfare and Women and Child Welfare), who was appointed as adhoc chairman of NDMC last month after Jalaj Srivastava was transferred to the central government,” NDMC spokesperson Jagjivan Bakshi said.
Prior to this, Kumar was posted as joint secretary in Ministry of Mines.
