Kolkata police chief Karpurakayastha to visit London with didi
Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee (didi) decided to take along Kolkata Police chief Surajit Karpurakayastha during her official visit to London in July.
Didi is slated to be accompanied by Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) Mayor Sovan Chatterjee and other state government officials besides Kolkata Police Commissioner Karpurakayastha.
After a thumping victory in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, didi had declared that she would devise a plan to convert Kolkata into a city like London if she came to power in the crucial 2011 Assembly polls. Now in the final year of her first term, she has decided to visit London.
In 2013, British Prime Minister David Cameron held talks with didi at the office of British Deputy High Commission in Kolkata.
Cameron and didi reportedly discussed waterways transport and various aspects of town planning. The British premier had then invited didi to visit London.
