ED Director Katoch gets another two-month extension
New Delhi: Government Friday extended by another two-month the tenure of senior IAS officer Rajan S Katoch as the Director of Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Katoch is handling the charge of the chief of ED in an additional capacity as he is also the Secretary of the Heavy Industries Ministry.
He got another two-month extension in the post of Director of Enforcement Directorate (ED) as the government is unable to find a suitable his successor.
A 1979-batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, Katoch has been heading Enforcement Directorate under the Finance Ministry for over two years. Earlier, in January, he had been given a three-month extension of tenure as Director of Enforcement Directorate (ED) with effect from February 1.
An order of the Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) said his tenure has been extended for another two-month beyond April 30.
The officer, who was appointed as ED chief in March 2012, has been credited with bringing in some of the best practices in the enforcement wing of the Finance Ministry which deals with cases under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
A post-graduate in economics, Katoch has served in the Ministry of Commerce, besides holding a number of posts in his parent cadre.
