Who helped Fake IAS trainee Ruby Chaudhry get group photo with Prez; BJP demands CBI probe

Dehradun: The case of fake IAS officer, Ruby Choudhary, who stayed in the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Administration Academy (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie for six long months, is turning murkier.

Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Uttarakhand Police is yet to question the academy’s senior officers, who had links with the imposter trainee.

Providing more insight into the controversy, the academy’s security guard Dev Singh appeared before the media in Mussoorie on Monday while claiming that he is innocent and influential people are making efforts to make him the main accused in the case. He also claimed, he is being made a scapegoat.

Dev Singh said: “Ruby Chaudhry showed me an approval letter from the deputy director for getting accommodation. How can a guard ask a senior officer if he has issued the letter or not? Whenever the police team comes, they question me. Why are they not questioning senior officers?”

After Chaudhry’s unauthorised stay came to light, the academy suspended Dev Singh for subletting his quarter.

The Uttarakhand BJP too has expressed shock over the functioning of the SIT and asked for a higher-level probe.

Senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition Ajay Bhatt said: “Ruby figured in the group photograph with President Pranab Mukherjee, which clearly proves that she enjoyed patronage of senior officers. If the SIT does not have courage to question senior officers, they should ask for a CBI investigation.”

Meanwhile, despite dispatching emails, Mail Today failed to get any response on the status of the internal inquiry being conducted by the academy and other queries.

There are rumours that the probe is over and two other staff members have been suspended.
Despite efforts, academy Director Rajeev Kapoor also failed to respond.

The big question is about Chaudhry figuring in the group photo of IAS trainees with President Pranab Mukherjee.

Dev Singh claims there were rehearsals for the group photographs for many days. The position of each trainee and staff was allotted. For security reasons, the names of all the persons to feature in the photograph with the President were documented.

Singh said: “The investigating agency should find out who helped Chaudhry in getting photographed as an IAS trainee with Pranab Mukherjee.”
