Mathura: An SHO has been suspended here for allegedly demanding bribe from a villager to hush up an old case, police said today.SHO Salim Khan has been suspended and a preliminary inquiry would be conducted against him after which a departmental enquiry would be done to probe his guilt,” SP (rural) Ajai Kumar said.
In a sting operation, his alleged attempt to extract money from a worker Rajveer of Bhalai village, was recorded where he was demanding Rs 7 lakh from him and the latter offered Rs 2 lakh.
He later reported the matter to Dist President of SP Gurudeo Sharma who made a complaint with SSP Manjil Saini.
The SHO was demanding money for eliminating his name in an illegal land deal case in which the land was sold in spite of the bank loan due on it, according to a police report.
A case was registered against the owner of the land Kali Charan along with four others including Rajveer who had then acted as a witness.
