New Delhi: Yoga guru baba Ramdev backed BJP member former IPS officer Kiran Bedi’s candidature for Delhi chief ministerial post. He said Bedi is better suited to become Delhi’s next chief minister than former IRS officer and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal.
Bedi joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 1972 and became the first woman officer in the IPS, while Kejriwal joined the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) in 1995. Both are IIT alumni and both resigned from services to dedicate their lives to social services.
In an interview to CNN-IBN, Baba Ramdev said, “Bedi has all qualities that are required to become a chief minister. She is the first woman IPS officer. She has a vision and strength. In comparison to Kejriwal, she can be a better chief minister as she has a lot of experience and is very honest.”
Ramdev denied that Bedi was being an opportunist as she was earlier with anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare and Kejriwal and now with the BJP.
