“Since the DA has crossed 107% mark, there is no justification for withholding the merger of 50% DA with basic pay/pension and as such it should be done immediately, which forms part of the recommendations of the 4th Pay Commission implemented since January first 1986,” National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) president Subash Shastri said said.

Shastri also sought exemption of DA from the ambit of Income Tax as it is related with the price index.

He appealed the Prime Minister to to direct chairman of the Seventh Pay Commission to consult representatives of state government employees for its report.

“There is only 12 months time to complete the report, the commission should visit all the states to obtain views of federations of the state government employees and pensioners, so that all of them get benefited out of it,” Shastri said.
