Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Dev Appointed As Adviser To Chandigarh Administrator

New Delhi: The Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi Vijay Kumar Dev has been appointed as the Adviser to the Chandigarh (UT) Administrator with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) approving his appointment.

Vijay Kumar Dev has been appointed as the Adviser to the Chandigarh.
Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued the posting order of the 1987-batch AGMUT cadre IAS officer Dev on December 15

As per the order, Dev has been posted as the Adviser with immediate effect. Dev will replace the 1983-batch AGMUT cadre officer, K K Sharma, who had joined the UT as the Adviser on April 15, 2011.

A 1995 batch officer Chandra Bhushan Kumar is expected to replace Dev as Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi.

Kumar was currently posted as Chief Electoral Officer in Arunachal Pradesh.

According to sources in CEO office, Dev was to be transferred to Chandigarh after Sharma completed his tenure in September.

However, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) put on hold transfer orders of Dev as the Election Commission of India (ECI) could not find the replacement of Dev as the CEO, Delhi.

The ECI, on Dec 4, wrote to the MHA about selecting Chandra Bhushan Kumar following which it has requested the Union Home Secretary to issue the requisite order to appoint Chandra Bhushan in place of Dev.
