UIDAI CEO Ajay Bhushan Pandey appointed Revenue Secretary

New Delhi: today appointed UIDAI CEO Ajay Bhushan Pandey was today appointed as the Revenue Secretary replacing Hasmukh Adhia, who retires on 31 November.

UIDAI CEO Ajay Bhushan Pandey will take charge of Revenue Secretary on 1 December.

Pandey, a 1984 batch Indian Administrative Service officer of Maharashtra cadre, will take charge on 1 December.

He will continue to hold additional charge of chief executive officer of the Unique Identification Authority of India and chairman of the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN), until further orders.

Pandey has previously served as secretary of information technology, collector of Jalgaon and deputy commissioner of sales tax in Maharashtra; and as director at the Ministry of Labour and private secretary to minister of food at Government of India.

Adhia, a 1981-batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre, moved to Delhi in November 2014 as secretary in the Department of Financial Services after Narendra Modi became the prime minister.

In another secretary appointment today announced, Girish Chandra Murmu—currently special secretary in the revenue department—took over as the officer on special duty in the finance ministry.

Murmu, a 1985 batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre, will take charge as secretary, department of expenditure in the finance secretary on superannuation of A N Jha on 31 January 2019.

Other following appointments were today made the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet:-

Upma Chawdhry, the current Director of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration was appointed as Secretary in the Department of Youth Affairs.

N Sivasailam named special secretary (logistics), Department of Commerce. He was special secretary, Department of Telecommunications.

Sumanta Chaudhuri given the charge of secretary, Ministry of Coal. Chaudhuri was managing director of Small Farmers’ Agri-Business Consortium. Orders for new assignment of Inder Jit Singh, incumbent coal secretary, will be issued shortly.

Chhabilendra Roul, special secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education, named officer on special duty, Department of Fertilizers. He will take over as secretary on retirement of Bharathi Sihag on Dec. 31.

Yogendra Tripathy given the charge of secretary, Ministry of Tourism on superannuation of Rashmi Verma on Nov. 30. Tripathy was chairman and managing director, Food Corporation of India.

Shalini Prasad appointed member secretary, tariff commission, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion. She was special secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj.

Ashok Kumar Singh appointed secretary, National Commission for Scheduled Tribes. He was additional secretary, Lok Sabha Secretariat.
