Neena Kumar, Akhilesh Ranjan, Prasana Kumar Dash appointed CBDT members

New Delhi: The Centre Tuesday appointed Neena Kumar, Akhilesh Ranjan and Prasana Kumar Dash as new members in the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the apex policy-making body of the Income Tax Department.

IRS officer Prasana Kumar Dash was Tuesday appointed as a Member of CBDT.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Kumar, Ranjan and Dash as the CBDT members, an order issued by Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) said.

The CBDT, which currently has only two members apart from the chairman.

Kumar, a 1982-batch officer of the Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax), is the principal director general ((Administration & TPS), New Delhi. Ranjan, who also belongs to the 1982 batch of the service, is the principal chief commissioner (International Taxation), New Delhi. Dash belongs to the same bath of the service, is the principal chief commissioner (Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh), Bhopal.

The CBDT is headed by a chairman and can have a maximum of six members. Its chief, Sushil Chandra, will be in office till May 31 next year.

After the latest appointments, there is a vacancy of one member in the board. Senior IRS officers Pramod Chandra Mody and Aditya Vikram are the other CBDT members.
