Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu appointment of R P Thakur as new Director General of Police of Andhra Pradesh.

Ram Pravaesh Thakur born on July 1, 1961 and completed IIT at Kanpur in Civil Engineering. He served as Additional SP at National Police Academy in Hyderabad, as appointment after joining as IPS on December 15, 1986.

1986 batch Ram Pravaesh Thakur IPS officer is serving as Director General of Anti Corruption Bureau at present and had severed the department in several positions in the united Andhra Pradesh.

B.Tech graduate from IIT Kanpur, R P Thakur joined the service as ASP and worked at police academy and at Guntur, Suryapet, Grey Hounds, Sattenapalli sub-divisions, later as ASP Waranagal district till 1992.

Though the Chief Minister wanted to have Vijayawada police commissioner Gautham Sawang to succeed Malakondaiah.

Lokesh mounted more pressure on the Chief Minister to change his decision. The Chief Minister had to succumb to the pressures from his son, who is projected as the future Chief Minister of the State, Lokesh wanted Thakur as DGP when Sambasiva Rao was retiring.

Although There was a tough competition between RP Thakur and Gautam Sawang but CM Chandrababu has finalised RP Thakur as the new DGP of AP giving weightage to his relations with centre.

He took charge from the incumbent M Malakondaiah on Saturday afternoon. He thanked chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for giving him the opportunity. He vowed that he would try hard to serve the people by maintaining law and order in efficient manner.
