4 Customs Deputy Commissioners arrested by CBI for demanding Rs 50 lakh bribe

Mumbai: The CBI today arrested four Customs Deputy Commissioners in an alleged bribery case.

CBI registered a case against Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Meena, Deputy Commissioner Rajeev Kumar Singh; Deputy Commissioner Sudarshan Meena; Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Yadav; Superintendent Manish Singh and Customs House Agent Nilesh Singh for demanding a bribe of Rs 50 lakh from the complainant for managing the clearance of a consignment.

CBI laid a trap and caught two Deputy Commissioners and the Customs House Agent for allegedly accepting Rs 5 lakh as the first installment of bribe. Role of two more Deputy Commissioners and the Superintendent was also found during investigation.

Searches were conducted at the official and residential premises of the accused.

The arrested persons will be produced before the competent court.
