Lt Governor Najeeb Jung approved Sharma’s leave application on personal ground.

The Chief Secretary is said to have gone abroad on a private visit.

Senior IAS officer S N Sahai, who is Delhi Home Secretary, will take care of works of the Chief Secretary office.

“The Lt Governor of Delhi is pleased to grant Earned Leave from 4th to 18th October, 2016 to K K Sharma, IAS (AGMUT: 1983), Chief Secretary, GNCT of Delhi on personal grounds,” an order issued by Delhi Services Department, stated.

In May last year, there was an intense war of words between the AAP government and Lt Governor office over the latter appointing the then Power Secretary Shakuntala Gamlin as acting Chief Secretary when Sharma had gone on a 10-day leave.

Kejriwal had strongly opposed the appointment of Gamlin, who is now Chief Secretary of Arunchal Pradesh.
