Tirap SP shunted out after manhandling BJP leader

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Kameng Dolo, who also holds the Home portfolio has transferred Tirap SP Jasmeet Singh for allegedly manhandling district BJP executive member Lankham Wangsu.

Singh, an IPS officer, has denied the allegations.

Speaking to a delegation of state BJP members led by its vice president Techi Necha here on Tuesday, Dolo regretted that it was unwarranted action on the part of the law-keeper.

Upon taking cognizance of the complaint by the district unit of BJP, Dolo, condemned the police brutality.

Denying the charges, the SP said his action was one of self-defence. “It was a case of mistaken identity. When one works in an insurgency-prone area, one has to be alert and careful at all times,” Singh said.
