M A Ganapathy to take over as new U’khand DGP

Dehradun: M A Ganapathy (Manepanda Appaiah Ganapathy) will take over from B S Sidhu as the new DGP of Uttarakhand from May 1.

The Centre gave its nod to the appointment of Ganapathy as the state police chief late last night, official sources said here today.

A 1986 batch IPS officer, Ganapathy has recently returned from deputation in the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.

The present Uttarakhand DGP B S Sidhu is retiring on April 30.

Ganapathy has been awarded the President’s Medal for Meritorious service and he was later decorated with the Presidents medal for distinguished service.

Ganapathy completed his primary and secondary education at Ponnampet (Karnataka) and graduated from the Madras Christian College Tambaram, he completed his Post Graduation from JNU New Delhi.
