Raj Bala Verma new Jharkhand Chief Secretary

Ranchi : Senior IAS Officer Raj Bala Verma was today appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Jharkhand, officials said here.

Raj Bala Verma, a 1983 batch IAS officer, was today appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Jharkhand.

She replaces Rajiv Gauba, who will join as the Secretary, Union Urban Development Ministry, the officials said.

An IAS officer of 1983 batch, Verma is now the Principal Secretary of Finance Department in Government here.

She began her official career in the administrative service as a Sub Divisional Officer in the state.

She also served in Personnel and General Administration as well as Cabinet Affairs departments.

Verma will take charge as Chief Secretary tomorrow, official sources said.

She was born February 2, 1958, accordingly she is due to retire in February, 2018. She is Post Graduate in Biology.

Her Husband J B Tubid is a former IAS officer and former Home Secretary of Jharkhand, who took voluntary retirement to join the BJP to contest assembly poll, however, he lost the poll from Chaibasa to his Jharkhand Mukti Morcha rival by a margin of 34,000 votes.
