Teachers complain that the inordinate delay in processing their salaries has hit their daily lives.

The government did not released close to Rs 50 crore in salaries of teachers in government-aided schools in the last quarter.

“The salaries were slated to be released by December. However, till date no teacher has received a single rupee from the government. Despite several representations, the government is silent on this issue,” said T Geetanjali, state general secretary, Telangana Aided Teachers’ Guild.

The Telangana government pays salary quarter basis, so, teachers have submitted several representation to the government to do away with the system of quarterly payment and release salaries on a monthly basis.

“Many of us have home loans, personal loans and others loans to be paid. The quarterly system is not turning out to be beneficial as many teachers are the lone bread-winners for their families. Delay in salaries is causing huge problems,” said Geetanjali.
