Bureaucrats to get PM’s awards for excellence

New Delhi: Bureaucrats from both the Centre and the states will be awarded the Prime Minister’s award for excellence.

The awards recognise those involved with implementation of the government’s priority programmes such as the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’, ‘Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana’, Swachh Vidyalaya and Soil Health Card.

The awards will be presented to the officers on April 21, the Civil Services’ Day for their contribution in the effective roll-out of the key initiatives.

The central government usually gives away “Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration” on the Civil Services Day.

The Prime Minister’s award for excellence, which carries a citation and a cash prize, recognises the extraordinary works done by officers of the central and state governments.

Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Jitendra Singh said it is necessary to encourage bureaucrats doing good work as the effective implementation of the government’s key initiatives by them is essential for good governance.
