Bihar govt bans sirens to curb noise pollution

Patna: Expressing concern over the alarming level of noise pollution in Bihar, the government has banned the use of all kinds of sirens.

The vehicles of Governor and judges besides ambulance and fire brigade have been exempted.

Presiding over a home department review meeting, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar stressed on measures to contain noise pollution by blaring sirens of vehicles belonging to VIPs and proposed banning them other than those carrying the governor, chief justice, fire engines and ambulances.

He also directed putting in place measures to end unnecessary blaring of sirens by vehicles.
