Bengal’s Chief Secretary Sanjay Mitra appointed new Union Roads Secretary

New Delhi:In a reshuffle of senior officials, the West Bengal Chief Secretary and senior IAS officer of the 1982 batch, Sanjay Mitra has been appointed as Union Roads Secretary.

Mitra will take over from Vijay Chibber, who superannuates on December 31, said an order issued Monday night by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet.

Aradhana Johri, Disinvestment Secretary in Ministry of Finance, has been moved as Chairperson of National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention.

Neeraj Kumar Gupta, a 1982-batch officer and the Special Secretary in Department of Public Enterprises will be the new Secretary, Disinvestment.

1982-batch officer Rashmi Verma, Special Secretary in Department of Revenue has been appointed as Secretary, Textiles as the current incumbent there, Sanjay Kumar Panda retires on December 31.

Amitabh Kant, Secretary of Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) has been given additional charge of the post of CEO, Niti Aayog consequent upon the completion of tenure of present Niti Aayog CEO Sindushree Khullar on December 31.

The order says Kant will hold additional charge of NITI Aayog till appointment of a regular incumbent or any further orders.

Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, Secretary (Coordination) in Cabinet Secretariat has been given additional charge of Secretary (Security), Cabinet Secretariat.
