An FIR was lodged against Thakur yesterday by Vigilance Establishment at Gomti Nagar police station under Prevention of Corruption Act for amassing assets beyond his known sources of income.

The IPS officer today gave a letter to the vigilance requesting them to provide a copy of the FIR registered against him and report of the open inquiry conducted against him.

In his letter to vigilance director Bhanu Pratap Singh, Thakur said that when he went to the police station, the Station Officer refused to give him a copy of the FIR.

He said that crime under the PC Act was such that the accused needed to know about the exact allegations against him so that he could explain the facts about these allegations.

Thakur alleged that in his case, Singh completed a one-sided inquiry with “undue haste”, merely to please the political masters, without telling him about the charges, including the assets he was alleged to be possessing and the grounds for these allegations.

He said that now that FIR has been registered, he should be given a copy of the FIR and the result of the open inquiry in compliance of the Supreme Court order in many cases about Right to Fair Investigation.
