Rape FIR against me, a ‘return gift’ from Mulayam: IPS officer Amitabh Thakur

Lucknow: Senior IPS officer Amitabh Thakur on Sunday accused Mulayam Singh Yadav of conspiring against him amidst the ongoing tussle between him and Samajwadi Party supremo after Yadav was charged with threatening him.

While addressing a press conference, Thakur said that the rape FIR lodged against him was a “return gift” from the Samajhwadi Party chief.

“It is a return gift of Mulayam as I have exposed his threats and made it public and filed a complaint against it to the police,” the IPS officer said.

Terming the FIR as “baseless”, Thakur claimed the police had earlier given in writing to the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) and the High Court that the charge of rape was fake.

Amitabh Thakur had yesterday filed a complaint with the police against Mulayam Singh Yadav, alleging that the SP chief threatened him with dire consequences if he does not “mend” his ways and also released the audio recording of the conversation.

His wife Nutan Thakur had said the provocation for the threat could have been the FIR lodged by her against state Mines minister Gayatri Prajapati.

In response to his complaint, a rape FIR was lodged against him last night by a Ghaziabad-based woman in Gomti Nagar police station, Lucknow.

In the FIR, the woman has said Nutan had visited Ghaziabad in November 2014 when she promised her a job for which she invited her to Lucknow.

The woman has alleged that on December 31 she visited Thakur’s residence and was directed to the officer’s room by his wife for an “interview”. When she went inside, Thakur raped him.
