Civil surgeon caught red-handed for accepting bribe

Rewa (MP): A civil surgeon of district hospital Rewa, Madhya Pradesh was Friday caught red-handed while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000, Lokayukta police said.

Civil surgeon A K Khare was nabbed while taking Rs 50,000 as bribe from the complainant, Birendra Kumar Patel.

The surgeon had demanded a bribe of Rs one lakh for employing patel’s wife as staff nurse.

Khare is alleged to have initially demanded Rs one lakh as bribe, which was later decreased to Rs 50,000, Lokayukta police claimed.

Khare had even offered Patel that he could play the role of a broker by convincing other people for obtaining employment by paying Rs 1.5 lakh as bribe.

Khare was nabbed while accepting the bribe money within the district hospital premises.

A case under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered in this regard and the role of civil surgeon in the matter is also being probed.
