Balvender Kumar assumes charge as Mines Secretary

New Delhi: Senior IAS office Balvender Kumar today took over the charge as Secretary, the Ministry of Mines, succeeding Anup K Pujari.

“Shri Balvender Kumar today took over as the new mines Secretary, succeeding Shri Anup K Pujari, who is now the Secretary Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises,” a statement from Ministry of Mines said.

Kumar, a 1981 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre , was vice-chairman, Delhi Development Authority under the Ministry of Urban Development before taking over as the mines Secretary.

Kumar is a post-Graduate in Science and a Master of Philosophy in Botany.

He has worked in various Union ministries and departments including Textiles, Fisheries, chemicals and fertilizers.

He has also worked in his state cadre as chairman and chief executive officer of Noida Authority, vice-chairman Lucknow Development Authority, Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation and District Magistrate in Moradabad and Rampur districts.

He has worked as Principal Secretary in departments of social welfare, women and child development, trade & taxes, revenue, science & technology and non-conventional energy sources department in Uttar Pradesh.
