Oraon had taken voluntary retirement from services to join the BJP before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

He was welcomed by PCC president Sukhdeo Bhagat at the Congress Bhavan here, PCC spokesman Ajay Rai said.

A graduate from Ranchi’s St Xavier’s College, Oraon completed his MBBS from the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) before he cracked the UPSC. He took voluntary retirement in 2014 to join politics.

Oraon comes from a powerful political family associated with Congress for a long time. His father Bandi Oraon has been an MLA, his father-in-law late Kartik Oraon had served in Indira Gandhi cabinet and mother in-law late Sumati Oraon had been an MP.

It would be easy for him to work for the Congress because the party influences the atmosphere in his family.
