With Gamlin’s appointment, Jung has sidelined Delhi govt: Sisodia

New Delhi: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday accused Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung of ‘unconstitutionally’ appointing senior bureaucrat Shakuntala Gamlin as the acting Chief Secretary of the state government and said that he does not have any right to directly talk with any of the state government officials.

“Yesterday, the BJP has tried to topple the elected government in Delhi through the LG. For the first time, it has happened that LG is directing the officials. The CM and the Cabinet were sidelined, and he was in a way trying to run the government,” Sisodia told ANI.

“The LG does not have any right to directly talk with any of the state government officials,” he added.

The war of words between Jung and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal escalated earlier on Friday over the Chief Secretary appointment row with the former stating that the name proposed by the AAP Government did not figure in the list of names submitted by the services department.

The statement further said the file for the posting of the officiating Chief Secretary was submitted to the Lt. Governor on May 13 and was cleared immediately.

Meanwhile, Gamlin, in a written complaint to Jung, claimed that she was being intimidated and blackmailed by senior officials of the Delhi Government.

She also accused Kejriwal’s Secretary Rajendra Kumar of asking her not be in the race for the post. She also accused the state government of casting aspersions on her integrity to service and levelling false charges.
