G R Aloria appointed as new Chief Secretary of Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Gujarat government today appointed senior IAS officer G R Aloria as the new chief secretary of the state. A formal notification of Aloria’s appointment was issued by General Administration Department.

Gujarat government on Saturday appointed 1979 batch IAS officer G R Aloria as the next Chief Secretary.

Gujarat government on Saturday appointed 1981 batch IAS officer G R Aloria as the next Chief Secretary.

Aloria, a 1981 batch IAS officer, is at present Additional Chief Secretary of Urban Development Department and also holds the additional charge of Home department. He will be chief secretary of the state, the notification stated.

He will replace incumbent Chief Secretary D J Pandian who is retiring on May 31. There were speculations that Pandian will get an extension.

Aloria had served in Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited as a head and shown his efficiency in acquisition of land for canal network.

Aloria earned Chief Minister Anandiben Patel’s trust as Secretary of Revenue department and MD of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited.

He also served as Municipal Commissioner in various cities across Gujarat. Aloria hailing from Rajasthan.

Aloria is likely to assume charge as Chief Secretary today.
