Arvind Ray appointed as Principal Secretary in Delhi General Administration

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi has created yet another flashpoint with Lt Governor Najeeb Jung just ahead of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s meeting with President Pranab Mukherjee. The AAP on Tuesday, appointed Arvind Ray as Principal Secretary in General Administration Dept (GAD) replacing Rajendra Kumar.

Arvind Ray was appointed as Principal Secretary in Delhi General Administration Department.

Arvind Ray was appointed as Principal Secretary in Delhi General Administration Department.

A 1984-batch officer, Ray earlier held the additional charge of Home Department after its head Archna Arora, a 1983 batch IAS officer, retired on September 30.

AAP, on Saturday, had replaced Anindo Majumdar with senior bureaucrat Rajendra Kumar, by an order which had been declared as void by Jung office on the same day.

Taking the ‘level of hostility’ to a whole new level, principal secretary (Services) Anindo Majumdar, who has been relieved from his duties by the AAP government, found both his offices in the Delhi Secretariat locked on Monday, preventing him to officiate.

Even his official nameplate outside the room was removed.

Majumdar had issued an order notifying the appointment of Shakuntala Gamlin as acting chief secretary on Friday.
