Half dozen secretaries to retire; new likely to be appointed

New Delhi: The Government will see a number of new secretaries soon due to the retirement of at least half a dozen top officers.

Petroleum Secretary Saurabh Chandra  is retiring this month end.

Among the prominent posts falling vacant is that of petroleum secretary Saurabh Chandra who is retiring this month end and the race for the next Petroleum Secretary is hotting up.

Chandra is a 1978 batch officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre and previously was Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion before coming to the Oil Ministry in March’ 2014.

The Government will have to make the appointments soon.

The process of senior level appointments continued across the Government.

Amrit Mohan Prasad, a 1989-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from Odisha cadre and A K Sharma, a 1987-batch IPS officer from Gujarat cadre were appointed Joint Directors in CBI.

Several senior IAS officers were made Additional Secretary.
