No attempt to curtail public holidays for government employees: Centre
New Delhi: The central government on Thursday said that no attempt is being made to curtail public holidays for its employees.
“At present there is no proposal under consideration of the government to curtail the public holidays for government employees,” Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said in in Rajya Sabha, reply to a question on whether government proposes to curtail public holidays for central government employees.The Central Government employees currently get 17 holidays in a year including three national Holidays, which are observed on 15 August, 2 October and 26 January as Independence Day, Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday and Republic Day respectively.
The central government employees get other 14 holidays to celebrate festivals on a local and regional basis.
