N R Wasan likely to be appointed as DG, RPF

New Delhi: Senior IPS officer Navneet Ranjan Wasan, the second-in-command in National Investigation Agency (NIA), is likely to be appointed as Director General (DG), Railways Protection Force (RPF).

Wasan is currently posted as Special Director General, National Investigation Agency (NIA).

The post of DG (RPF) fell vacant recently when Krishna Chaudhary, who was heading the force, was appointed DG, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, and took charge last month.

Wasan, a 1980-batch officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, has earlier served the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in various capacities and is now with the Central agency that has been probing several sensitive cases pertaining to national security.

After the former NIA chief, Sarat Chandra Sinha, had joined the National Human Rights Commission, Wasan was given the charge of NIA Director-General till the appointment of the present NIA chief Sharad Kumar.
