Thomson likely to be appointed as Kerala Chief Secretary

Thiruvananthapuram: Senior IAS officer Jiji Thomson is likely to be appointed the Chief Secretary to government of Kerala.

Thomson, a 1980-batch IAS officer from the Kerala cadre, is currently the Director General of Sports Authority of India (SAI) on central deputation.

He will be appointed in place of E K Bharat Bhushan, a 1979 batch IAS officer, who superannuates in this month.

He will leave for his home state end this month to take charge of his new posting.

It has been learnt that the Government has taken the in-principle decision to appoint him as the Chief Secretary and he will soon be relieved from his central deputation.

Thomson, who was born on March 23, 1956 in Kerala, is a post graduate in in Economics in first class.

Thomson has been on central deputation since 2008. He was holding the charge of Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and also holding the charge of Additional Secretary as well as Special Secretary in the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Thomson was appointed the Director General of Sports Authority of India (SAI) in March last year, succeeding Desh Deepak Verma.
