Haryana Chief Secy Shakuntala Jakhu Gets Two-Months Extension

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Secretary Shakuntala Jakhu got on Tuesday two-months extension in service after clearance from the Election Commission.

Jakhu, an IAS officer of the 1978 batch, took over as the chief secretary of Haryana on August 01, 2014 and was slated to retire on September 30, 2014.

The Hayana state government issued a notification extending Jakhu’s term at the top bureaucratic post by two months. According to the notification, she will continue to serve in her current post till November 30.

However, the state government took permission from the Centre as well as Election Commission (as the model code was in force then) and granted her a two-month extension.

Jakhu’s husband and retired IAS officer Ramendra Jakhu had recently joined BJP.

However, , an IAS officer of the 1981 batch, was tipped to succeed Shakuntala Jakhu as the chief secretary of Haryana.
