New Delhi: Ashok Prasad, a 1979-batch IPS officer, currently serving as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau, is likely to be appointed as Special Secretary (Internal Security) in the Home Ministry.

The post of Special Secretary (internal security) in the Home Ministry is again vacant after the appointment of Prakash Mishra, a 1977 batch officer of Odisha cadre, as Chief of CRPF.
The post of Special Secretary in the Home Ministry is held by a senior IPS officer. The position had been vacant for more than eight months till Mishra was appointed in July.
The senior IPS officers are lobbying for the vacant post.
